1. Media & Confidentiality Policy

This policy protects your right to use content for fundraising while emphasizing the safety and privacy of the survivors you serve.

Overview
Faith in Action (FIA) utilizes photography, video, and audio recording to share the impact of our work and to raise awareness for the fight against human trafficking. By participating in FIA events, you help us tell the story of restoration.

Consent & Usage
By attending any FIA-sponsored event or activity, you grant FIA the irrevocable right to use your image, likeness, and voice in any media format (digital or print) for promotional, educational, and fundraising purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, our website (fia.gives), social media, and newsletters.

Ownership
All media captured by FIA or its authorized partners remains the sole property of Faith in Action. Participants waive the right to inspect or approve finished versions of the media or receive any financial compensation for its use.

Survivor Privacy & Confidentiality
The safety of the individuals we serve is our highest priority.

  • Restricted Content: Participants are strictly prohibited from recording or photographing sensitive areas or specific individuals identified as survivors without express written consent from FIA leadership.
  • Confidentiality: Any personal stories or sensitive information shared by survivors during FIA activities are strictly confidential. Sharing this information outside of the event is a violation of our community trust and safety protocols.

Right to Opt-Out
If you have safety concerns regarding your image being used, please contact us at [Email Address] prior to an event so we can provide you with an identification marker (such as a specific colored wristband) for our media team.

2. Additional Essential Policies

Beyond media, a non-profit/social enterprise like FIA should establish these three policies on Shopify to build trust and protect the organization:

A. Donation & Refund Policy

Because you are selling tickets and taking donations, you need to be clear about where the money goes.

  • Finality: State that all ticket sales and donations are non-refundable.
  • Tax-Deductibility: Clearly state if/how much of the purchase is tax-deductible (consult your tax pro since it’s a "value-exchange" event).
  • Purpose: Affirm that 100% of proceeds (minus platform fees) go toward FIA’s mission in Boise and the Philippines.

B. Safety & Code of Conduct

Since you are hosting physical classes (like Jiu Jitsu) and discussing heavy topics like trafficking.

  • Respectful Environment: Establish a zero-tolerance policy for harassment or disparaging comments.
  • Physical Safety: Note that participants must follow the instructions of the gym staff (Spectre Jiu Jitsu) and FIA leads to prevent injury.
  • Age Requirements: Define if your events are 18+ or if minors require a legal guardian present.

C. Privacy Policy (GDPR/CCPA Compliant)

Since you are collecting emails and personal data on Shopify and Givebutter.

  • Data Collection: Explain that you collect names/emails for event updates and newsletters.
  • No Third-Party Selling: Explicitly state that FIA never sells or rents donor/participant lists to third parties.
